Yes, but the physics behind the material composition of the universe is at least understandable. IMO the most amazing thing about the universe is that a tiny fragment of it (the lump of goo between your ears) is capable of conceiving that the rest of the universe even exists. We're not even close to figuring out how that works yet.

Not quite true. Massive strides have been made recently in the understanding of how the human brain works and how the whole body is controlled, albeit indirectly by the brain.. What is lacking, however is the understanding of the phenomenon of conciousness and the different levels which can exist, although mainstream science would deny that there are more than one.
