Another day with intermittent sunshine, though much interference from high cloud associated with an approaching weather front. Disc overviews in CaK and Ha: 1057 UT 1102 UT Yesterday's new active areas (now numbered 11052 & 11053) have failed to develop, though both have small spots visible in white light. The white light spot in AR 11051 also persists. AR11051 in Ha & CaK: 1105 UT. Solarscope 60, f/16. 1113 UT, 60mm, f/25. AR11052 & AR11053 in Ha & CaK (11052 is the more northerly one) 1106 UT, Solarscope 60, f/16 1112 UT, 60mm, f/25 The patch of activity at the north east limb: 1106 UT, Solarscope 60, f/16 1114 UT, 60mm, f/25 Milky high could prevented a good view of prominences. There were obviously some on the west limb but they were too faint to image properly in the prevailing conditions. After lunch I did manage to obtain a passable image of the prominence group on the NE limb, though this was subdued compared with yesterday. 1333 UT, Solarscope 60, f/16 There was also an intesting small but very bright prominence on the SW limb, which looked like a piece of the chromosphere had peeled off! 1107 UT, Solarscope 60, f/16 Transparency poor with variable milky white high cloud (cirrostratus). Seeing fairly good. Temp +5C, wind SW force 2-3.
