Hi Martin, Lovely shot! I've checked the Sky Atlas 2000.0 and the Observer's Sky Atlas and the only two other galaxies close are 3077 and 2976, both companions of M81. However only 2976 appears to be at the right orientation i.e. roughly 11 o'clock to M81, but 3077 should be at 2 o'clock and appear as a nebulae in small scopes. The object in the pic which looks like a nebula is below M82 about 6 o'clock and looks similar to Comet Holmes. That being the case I really can't pick out the second galaxy. Anyone else any ideas? Hi Martin, I've been pondering about your question and I realise I misread your original comment about the galaxies. So I admit to being a 'dafty'!! I thought you had M81 and M82 in the frame and were asking about what other two galaxies could be seen. Without actual coordinates, the 'juries still out'. Anyway besides my 'fopah', you may ask what the two galaxies are, and I may ask what the other two objects are? So back to you, that makes four unknowns in total. ;>)
