After a cloudy night & early morning, yet another clear lunchtime & afternoon!
The Sun continues to get sleepier. White light spot groups similar to yeaterday, though AR1046 seems a little smaller. AR1045 is now approaching the limb and there are white light faculae associated with both this AR and a patch of apparently "dead" activity which is coming into view on the NE limb.
AR1045 has most interesting structure in Ha but is relatively quiescent in CaK:
2010 Feb 12, 1229 UT. Solarscope 60, x2 barlow (f/16), DMK41.
2010 Feb 12, 1239 UT. 60mm, x3 barlow (f/18.9), Lunt B1200 CaK diagonal, DMK41. Camera not properly aligned, sorry.
AR1046 is compact, there is an interesting "semi detached" spot on the leading (western) end which is large for a spot with minimal penumbra:
2010 Feb 12, 1211 UT. 80mm, x4 Imagemate (f/24), Baader ND5.0 solar film & solar continuum filter, DMK21.
2010 Feb 12, 1226 UT. Solarscope 60, x2 barlow (f/16), DMK41.
2010 Feb 12, 1241 UT. 60mm, x3 barlow (f/18.9), Lunt B1200 CaK diagonal, DMK41. Camera not properly aligned, sorry.
Not much in the way of prominences. This is all that can be seen on the NW limb where AR 1045 is approaching:
2010 Feb 12, 1226 UT. Solarscope 60, x2 barlow (f/16), DMK41.
The north east limb is more active, maybe something is about to rotate into view:
2010 Feb 12, 1226 UT. Solarscope 60, x2 barlow (f/16), DMK41.
Finally the whole disk images for Feb 12:
Transparency excellent, seeing moderate to fairly good. Temperature +8C, wind NW force 3.
