Hi folks,
There will be an IAA observing session tonight, 16-1-10, at Delamont Country Park, starting around 7.30pm. Usual conditions apply, please be there before 9pm, wrap up warmly, and bring something to eat/drink etc. If you need some advice on your telescopes and binoculars, bring them along too.
Temeratures will be around zero, so please drive carefully on any B roads and the entrance drive to the car park, as these may not be gritted.
See you all there!
David Stewart (oberving coordinator)

Hi Folks,
A big thankyou to all who attended our observing session on 16-1-10. Over a dozen turned up to enjoy the spectacular skies at Delamont, and we only had a couple of brief spells of cloud to spoil the viewing. Seeing conditions weren't great for Mars, but the deepsky views made up for that. Pat O'Neill's laser pointer was put to good use as he gave guided tours of the sky, and Philip Baxter was on hand to dish out the advice/banter. Temperatures were about 1 or 2 deg', but the wind chill had us reaching for our flasks of tea and coffee.
Our next observing session will be 5th-6th Feb', so mark your diaries now, and clear skies!
David.

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say a special thanks to David for all the advice he gave John and myself at the observing session about setting up a DSLR camera and focusing tips. We had a great night and im still enjoying learning the star names and much more. Thanks also to everyone else who was pointing out stuff to me and for the chocolate biscuits :-) Looking forward to the next session and hopefully by then i will have my own camera to capture the things i cant see by eye, though that will be another learning session. The other half says to say hi and sorry she missed it.
Cheers everyone,
Paddyman
