Hi All,
I think that I should make mention of the fantastic time we all had at the Green Living Fair at Castle Espie at the weekend!
It was truly wonderful to be able to give so many people their first view of some (rather small) sunspots through a telescope. One person, Carl I think, said that he would never forget it!
I'm sure I must have had a couple of hundred under-10s, never mind the adults getting a look at the sun and I'm sure that plenty of seeds were planted in their minds! One girl mentioned that the clouds passing in front of the sun was just like the Moon in the Harry Potter films!
With all the bad weather we've been having lately it was amazing luck to get such fine weather. Terry Moseley even had to wear a pink skullcap! Or was that just sunburn!

Hi Everybody, Here is a copy of Terry Moseleys summary of the Green Living Fair, which was a great success for the IAA. "The Green Living Fair at Castle Espie, Comber, last W/E was blessed with two glorious days - almost unbroken sunshine on Saturday, and dry with good sunny periods on Sunday. The crowds attending were fantastic - we must have had about 1000 people showing at least some interest at the IAA stand on each of the two days, and many of them queued up for looks through the various telescopes, at the Moon, & the Sun (as projected, or through Mylar filters, or Coronado H-Alpha filters). Our literature was also very popular, and we were practically cleaned out by the end of Sunday! Thanks to all who helped, (too many to mention, but particularly Philip Baxter who, with me, was there early & was last away each evening!)" Hopefully, we will see lots of new members at our first meeting tomorrow night. Pook

Hi Robert,
A pink skullcap - moi? No, it was a genuine pink skull - but who would complain? A fantastic event, as you say. It's nice (I think?) to be totally overwhelmed with visitors!
Roll on next year - and lots of other, maybe smaller, events in the meantime. More on these in due course. Terry
