Hi there,
I thought I'd introduce myself.
Some of you may know me from the other Astronomy Society in NI where I'm a regular on the forum, at the meetings, the observing nights and on the committee :-)
I'm English (though my mother's originally from Athlone) and came over here in 2003 when I married a local girl (Jude) - we decided we could live better here than in my native London.
The very first day I moved over here I saw my first aurora (Nov 20th 2003) and was able to rekindle a childhood interest which started with the Moon landings and faded away as I lived in places with orange sky and half a dozen stars visible.
I have a couple of scopes but am most interested in widefield astrophotography - it comes from having been into "ordinary" photography since the early '70s. I use a Minolta Dynax 5D - for no better reason than I've always used Minolta SLRs so I have a collection of lenses to fit. The Dynax's low noise ISO 3200 mode, 6MP resolution and light collecting ability of my 50mm f1.7 lens comes in mighty handy. It means I can photograph the light pollution of the town I live in (Larne, Co Antrim) very well!
Looking forward to seeing the IAA programme for the season!
Clear skies,
Paul.

Hi Paul,
Great to have you posting here! I know its a nightmare keeping up with too many forums so thanks for popping in! I am sure that many IAA members will benefit from your great knowledge of photography, I know I have! Cheers, Robert.
