ADVANCE NOTICE The IAA's next scheduled observing session at Delamont Country Park is planned for the 25th-26th of April, which is our second choice for observing this month and last chance until the Autumn. The mighty Jupiter will be high in the south west sky plus some of the winter nebulae/star clusters. Mars will be rising in the east. If it stays clear later on, we'll have a look for some springtime galaxies, so there are plenty of targets for our scopes As I write this, its a lovely clear evening (24th), but the forecast for Friday evening 25th isn't looking good, with increasing cloud and some light rain by mid evening (9pm) I'm also not available tomorrow night anyway. The forecast for Saturday is perhaps looking slightly better, so we'll postpone Friday night and aim for Saturday. Hope thats ok with everyone? If anyone would like text updates, please text me on 07808736963, I'll try to keep you updated on observing sessions Clear skies David.

Hi all, There may be a few breaks in clouds this evening, so tonight's observing session 26-4-14 is on at Delamont. It won't be getting dark until 9.30pm bst so if you are there for about 9pm to set up for Jupiter etc. I'm not promising anything though Usual rules apply, wrap up well and bring something to eat/drink. Jupiter and Mars will be the main targets and if we get enough breaks in the cloud, we'll have a look for some galaxies! See you there David.

Me and the wife should be making an appearance to this tonight Be good to meet up with some like minded people and maybe get some tips and advice on using my scope properly I presume we'll see you upon entering the park or will you all be out of sight in a corner? If so we'll need some guidance to find you See you later, Mark

Hi all, A big thanks to all who made it to Delamont last night, finally the skies came good for us Special thanks to fatrick and Keith who brought their new scopes. Apart from a few clouds it was a glorious night with plenty of targets etc, I know I lost count of the number of satellites going in all directions and a few sporadic meteorites and of course the craic was great as well (as always) Keep an eye on the front page of the website for upcoming events during the summer, especially our 40th anniversary events (TBC) later in the year. I'll also be putting together the observing programme for the autumn so lets hope for some glorious clear nights!! See you there............ Regards David (obs' co-ord')

Thanks, was a pleasure to come down and see some like-minded folk. Hopefully it will be the first of many obs nights I, and the wife, can make it down to. I was good to compare the views of my scope to that of other ones. Its nice to know that I'm not missing out on too much with my small aperture Although, that 12 inch scope was rather tasty See you all in the Autumn! Mark

Hi Fatrick, Glad you and your wife enjoyed the observing on Saturday night, its always good craic. I hope you can join us again in the Autumn as you will see more with your scope there than at home etc. There is plenty of good advice available from everyone to guide you along, and with Ivan and his 12" dob flying around the sky, your head will be spinning at the end of the night Don't be getting aperture fever though.........the astronomers wallet busting curse, just come down to Delamont and look through other peoples scopes Clear skies David

I don't know what time the last two left at, but when I left for home at 2:05am the satellite count was at 27, and it was nice and clear again. Unfortunately I had plans made for Sunday morning and couldn't stay any longer, sorry Ivan, but im sure there's gonna be an all-nighter yet hopefully some night when I remember to bring the camera. That night vision yoke was interesting to try, can't remember the owners name now tho... Paddy
