ADVANCE NOTICE
Hi there photon catchers!
The IAA's next scheduled observing session at Delamont Country Park is planned for the 7th-8th of February. There will be a 1st quarter Moon to observe and of course Jupiter will be high in the sky. If it stays clear later on, we'll have a look for some springtime galaxies in the east. We will also be picking out the recent supernova discovered in the "Cigar Nebula" aka M82.
Usual rules apply, wrap up well and bring something to eat/drink etc. Please take care on any icy or untreated roads in the area.
If you enjoyed the Stargazing Live events last month at QUB and Cultra, you'll find observing at Delamont much more relaxing with a more varied selection of things to look at. All members/non members/general public welcome. Please note: If you are planning to bring a group of people to any Delamont observing sessions, please let me know so we can plan etc.
Check the IAA forum again a couple of days before the 7th, by which time I should have a reasonable forecast available.
You can ring me on 07808736963 if you would like an update.
Clear skies
David (Obs' Co-ord')

ADVANCE NOTICE Hi all, Unfortunately due to increasing cloud and heavy rain forecast for Friday night, the observing session for 7th Feb' is cancelled With yet another weather front bringing heavy rain for the weekend, the 8th is also cancelled Please check this forum again for an update for the 21st-22nd February, which is our second choice for the month. If you get a chance, see if you can spot SN2014J, the supernova in M82, may be fading slightly but will be well within reach with any reasonable telescope. Regards David
