By 02.15 on 19th March the sky was clear, but transparency was moderate. Saturn had cleared the rooftops and was vailable for imaging. The planet was siuated a few degrees east of the first mag star Spica which is the brightest star in the constellation Virgo. Attachments:

Nice effort - Saturn is difficult because of the low surface brightness.
I haven't tried Saturn this year yet. Seeing was deteriorating on Monday night, Tuesday night I was asleep (exhausted) and last night was cloudy here.

Sleeping not allowed when skies are clear! exhaustion not an excuse! When skies are cloudy the dedicated imager will do hourly checks for clearing skies or cloud breaks throughout the night. I never thought it possible to sleep standing up. Attachments:

That's my usual position but having only managed to snatch a couple of hours of naps between Saturday morning & Tuesday night I was pretty well out on my feet - starting to find it difficult to remember which way was up ...
Anyhow plenty of cloud now :grr: - that's probably my fault too, just received an improved planetary camera today so it will probably be murky for weeks. When I have had a chance to check the new camera out my DMK21 will almost certainly be for sale.

Very nice!
I got in late from a social event last night & my CPC wouldn't have had time to cool down but I managed to shoot Mars & Saturn with my FLT & will be posting the results later. (They're not processed yet.)
Notice how the rings are starting to brighten as we get close to opposition!

A pleasant night overall, seeing moderate, no breeze.a short period of steady seeing around 23.30 allowed some imaging. Attachments:

That's a nice image.
I'm having issues with Saturn, mostly that the seeing seems to go off as soon as I point the scope in that direction, also clouds appear from nowhere!

Yes Brian, Saturn seemed to vary in brightness, then I realised thin cloud had intervened.Seeing was quite variable too, but deteriorated markedly after midnight.
