There's a new sunspot developing on the sun at present, it's AR 955 and it's growing fast. A couple of days ago it was almost invisible and now the biggest part is planet sized! Unfortunately it's already near the meridian. Got a quick capture late afternoon before I was clouded out. This is 346 frames in Registax etc......

Nice capture as usual John - we'll have to wait and see how 955 develops of course - any chance that it might go around again and blow in 25 days time? Let's hope!
Clear skies,
Paul.

Great job getting a swift image of this growing new SS John and especially so considering that you imaged it within the few clear spells that we got today. - Dedication!

Hi John, I have absolutely no problems with anyone posting a load of images, they are welcome. But please, if you have many images of one subject, post only the best one, rather than them all. The other thing is that we all want to improve our astronomy skills. Between the IAA and the EAAS there is a massive amount of talent and we should endeavour to point out where we think others have gone wrong. For instance I posted a message earlier saying that M35 was M45 but noone pointed it out! It is so easy to get the wrong end of the stick on forums and emails etc. so please, if you think a message might get taken the wrong way use the smiley emoticons as a substitute for the facial expressions that this type of communication lacks and which sometimes gets us into trouble. Robert.

Hi Robert Some good points there. I noticed the M35 - M45 miskake but I didn't say anything because I knew it was a typo and fully understood what cluster you meant anyway. But we all know for the future to mention these because their may be new members who may not know any better. Point taken. It will keep the standard high

Thanks Robert, and I agree with you on the many images point. I too noticed the typo but as a new member didn't think it appropriate to point it out, if I see any in future I'll send you a PM
