Hi Pook
Thanks for the welcome, I realy like the wee TMB it has given me some great views, really crisp. I liked the views so much that I splashed out on a 6" as well so I am waiting for the right weather to really test it out.

Hi Neil, What TMB model have you got? and what model is the 6" your buying? I'm not too familiar with their range other than what I've read about them on Cloudynights website. I've a couple of APO's, a 6" and 4", it would be good to compare notes etc. Hope you have a good eq' mount sorted out for the 6"
Regards David.

Hi David
They are both the CNC classic models a 115 and a 152, the 115 is on a losmandy GM8 but I am dithering as to what to mount the 6" on. I am really just a visual observer, at the moment I have an EQ6 which holds it ok but could be better, I am considering either a G11 or a Tak NJP mount. The G11 would be great for visual but if I ever decide to do some astro-photography I might be better going heavier form the start, I would be interested in hearing what mount you have for your 6".
Thanks Neil

Neil, I've been using a G11 mount for about 10 years, its been a great workhorse for visual and long exp' photography. I've loaded the g11 with side by side dovetails, guidescopes, extra counterweights, st4 guidecamera and a sxvh9, must be well over the limit, but it still tracks perfectly. There has been some rubbish talked about this mount over the years, provided the setup is balanced properly, it will do anything you ask of it. What is the weight of your 152?
Regards David.

David
With rings, diagonal, eyepiece etc it is probably around the 20kg/45lbs mark so its well in the G11 range I think.

Neil, I know the cnc TMB's are considerably heavier than the LW series, they are stunning looking scopes, even nicer than my Astro-physics apo's!!, but the G11 would be the obvious choice. I'd probably steer you away from the EQ-6, it's a decent mount, but with a TMB 6" cnc, you would be better off with a mount with higher accuracy gears etc. A G11, or a Tak' mount, or Astro-physics (no chance), Williams Optics were doing a mount a couple of years ago, called GT-1, great review in scopereviews. Or what about the Gemini G41 (see Bray Imaging for details). Your welcome to call round and have a look at my G11 setup, I'm in Belfast.
Regards David.
