Hi John, Which type of astro imaging do you wish to pursue? At the moment, I have 4 different types of camera depending on subject to be imaged! Whats your main area of interest? Regards David.

Hello David, I am interested in widefield imaging of starclusters etc, but not too worried about planetary imaging at the moment. Best, John.

Hi John, Assuming you'll be using your apo on an eq' mount, a dslr might be a suggestion, as you won't need a computer at the scope. You can always use it for general photography as well. However processing dslr images is a black art, (see the article in Nov' S+T by Chuck Vaughn), and because its not a cooled camera, your total exp' time would need to be very long to get a good signal to noise ratio and beat the light pollution at the same time. A proper cooled CCD camera would be my choice, as you would get a much better image for any given exp' time, and the chips used in many of the lower cost cameras would be a good match for your apo. Another option might be the Meade DSI pro: the images reproduced in the astro mags look very good, but you'll still need a computer running at the scope to capture the images for processing.
David.
