I have just tried solar observation for the first time using Baader Astro Film and I am very impressed. Clear views of sunspots and convection cells on surface.
The film is very easy to use. I have it, securely, taped to the dustcap of a skywtcher dobsonian. This has a 2.5" hole in the cap to cut the diameter down for lunar viewing and it gives a very clear view of the sun.
48x complete disc, 120x detail of sunspots.
If you haven't tried solar viewing try this. Andy Mc Crea has the film available (£12 for A4 sheet). Cheap, easy, safe and interesting.

Hi Ray, The Astrofilm is a great alternative to a glass filter, which can be quite expensive. I used the astrofilm for this photo of the sun,
