Four days in a row with sunshine ... it is summer! The Sun's activity is tailing off slightly. Not only has AR1047 fizzled out, AR1045 is now much less active - there are still spots at the following end and a biggish one at the leading end, but the multitude of spotlets in the centre of the group have disappeared. There is less flaring too. The giant filament at the following end has grown to monstrous proportions! AR1045 in red, white & blue: 2010 Feb 11, 1236 UT. Solarscope 60, f/16, DMK21 2010 Feb 11, 1223 UT. 80mm, f/24, DMK21 2010 Feb 11, 1249 UT. 60mm, f/18.9, DMK21 AR1046 hasn't got a lot more active but is now the "main" group. Another patriotic triptych: 2010 Feb 11, 1235 UT. Solarscope 60, f/16, DMK21. 2010 Feb 11, 1222 UT. 80mm, f/24, DMK21. 2010 Feb 11, 1250 UT. 60mm, f/18.9, DMK21. There are notable prominences at the north west limb, where AR1045 is approaching the edge. This deserves watching over the next few days, it could get quite spectacular. 2010 Feb 11, 1240 UT. Solarscope 60, f/16, DMK21. Finally, but popular demand , my famous whole disc images in Ha and CaK: 2010 Feb 11, 1230 UT. Solarscope 60, f/5, DMK41. 2010 Feb 11, 1213 UT. PST CaK, f/10, DMK41. Transparency excellent but with occasional drifting cloud. Seeing poor. Temperature +6C, wind NW force 4.

Lovely images yet again Brian, you beat me to it! This was 1045 just after 1300UT. Certainly has lost a few spots! However 1046 still seems to be growing. I noticed a small patch of faculae on the limb following these groups, perhaps another big one on the round? And 1046.

Congrats on your excellent white light images!
Yes, there is a patch of plage visible on the NE limb in CaK visible in my whole disk image - but it looks all "straight lines" & rather fragmented, so I suspect its the decaying remnants of something rather than major activity. Must say I haven't bothered to check the STEREO "round the corner" views though.
