Got some snaps of the brightest Full Moon of 2010 and the brightest Mars until 2014 sitting next to each other in the sky last night... Here's the Martians coming to visit us And that's M44, the Beehive, in between the two Paul.

Nice capture, only brief gaps in the cloud here .... and a fierce wind too ....
It'll be longer than that when you allow for atmospheric extinction. The 2012 opposition isn't too bad positionally (though the distance is marginally greater than this one), then we have low altitude to contend with until 2020.
