hi all, i have attached here an image here i took of mars on friday night last the 22nd. its taken with a red filter and DMK 21UO4.AS usb camera at 30fps attached to a celestron C9.25 SCT. this was my first attempt at RGB imaging. the green and blue images where not a sharp so i had to leave it at this for now. i think i should have refocused for each filter but i took it for granted that i didn't need to do this. but we live and learn as they say:-) i am looking for advice on a software package for combining RGB images to make a full colour final image. i have an early basic version of adobe photoshop elements and paintshop pro 9 and they both don't seem to have any option to do this RGB processing. can anyone here help on where to get a photo editing software that can combine RGB frames into one and that also won't break the bank too:-) i seen on ebay copys of recent photshop elements for about 30 - 40euro and up. look forward to your replys! many clear to you all! great mars images here too!!!!!!!!!!!!! congrads all!!!!!!! That's a super red image, lots of detail in there.
Which filters are you using? My Astronomik type 2c filters are parfocal ...
There is a means of combining RGB images in Registax. I've not done it myself but I know it can be done.

Hi James, and welcome to the forum. That's a nice red image with plenty of detail - you'll get good advice here on capturing and processing - that's a great setup you've got!
Paul.

Greetings to you all, thanks for replying!
i forgot to mention i use the baader RGB filter set. their not parfocal as i have learnt from my first night at the scope! i purchased them as they where not as expencive. i will see how i get on with them as time goes by.
i didn't realise registax could combine RGB to make a full colour image! can you tell me what version of registax can do this? is it the newest versions? i use version 4.
i got the c9.25 OTA from andy mcCrea. its optics are excellent in the right conditions! i am very very impressed with it, only difference with it is it weighes heavier than a c8 OTA and its cool down times are longer. but a great scope when up and runing!
the night i took that red filtered mars image the optical tube was covered with hard frost! i think it was pushed to it's limit! :-)
partly clear skies tonight, james.

Haven't done this myself but have seen references to other people doing it.
I really like my CPC1100 too, as you say it takes a while to cool (3 to 4 hours for critical work) & at least 9 nights out of 10 the seeing doesn't allow it to perform to its full potential ... but it does the job.
