After imaging Mars I turned my attention to the moon. de la Rue, Endymion, Atlas, Hercules: 2010 Jan 03, 0322 UT Mare Crisium etc: 2010 Jan 03, 0323 UT. Janssen & Vallis Rheita: 2010 Jan 03, 0325 UT All images CPC1100, prime focus, Astronomik Planet Pro 742 IR pass filter, DMK41 camera. Transparency very good, seeing mediocre with substantial rippling.

These really are top drawer images Brian, certainly up with the best I've ever seen.
What sort of %age of captured frames are you keeping with these?

Some people still have a big lead on me, Nick Smith for instance .... but he went to La Palma to get some good seeing .... :green envy monster:
For these I shot only 250 frames & stacked 40% - using Avistack which does an excellent job on lunar (& solar) surfaces even when the seeing is wobbly. I was able to get away with a low frame count because the near full moon let me pull the gain down to minimum & still get acceptably short exposure times. All the processing in these images is Avistack except for cropping & assembly of the Crisium mosaic (even the DMK41 sometimes isn't big enough!)
I set gamma at 120% during the capture, adjusted the exposure to get the histogram peak at around 75% & haven't altered gamma / contrast / brightness at all in the processing.
