Hi Folks,
I ventured to the lecture last week after a tiring 3 hour exam. The lecture was fascinating and everyone seemed so welcoming! I am really looking forward to the coming lectures and observing sessions. Many thanks for the nice welcome and solid advice!
Jeremy.

Thanks again! I'm gutted I missed the observing session. It's typical that the night it is rescheduled to is the night that I am otherwise engaged!

Welcome Jeremy, Good to meet you the other night and I'm sure Adam gave you some good advice regarding the astrophotography. Look forward to seeing you at the next meeting and hope you join the Association in the future. Pook

Hello Jeremy,
Good to have you on board - glad you enjoyed the lecture, we generally get a very high standard that manages to tread the fine line between too much science and too little - I was the warm up man on this occasion which is always an honour and good fun too!
Paul.

Well as I explained to someone (names will come with time ) ,as a final year student I found the lecture to be perfect as it was pitched at a level that appeals to all. It retained enough depth and sophistication to entertain the more scientific types yet still maintained the enjoyment for more casual astronomers. Thumbs up all round I say!

Hi allig45, Thanks for your post. Our observing nights are listed in the dropdown box (on the same line as the Forum), under Astronomy then Observing sessions. We normally hold these now at Delamont Country Park , Killyleagh near Downpatrick, mainly because of good dark sky. We will be having the next observing night at a special event at Castle Espie near Comber on 26th March at 8.00pm and we will also have the mobile planetarium incase it's cloudy. We will hosting sky tours if it's clear as well as talks in the planetarium. This would be perfect for your son. Tickets for the shows will be available at the IAA table as you enter. We don't charge for anything, but Castle Espie might charge for entrance to their premises. We are expecting a big crowd so best to come early. I suggest you talk to some of the members on the night re buying a scope to suit you and you'll get good advice. One of our members runs North Down Telescopes and may be able to help as well. You will also see a selection of equipment as well which may help you decide. Hope this helps. and I look forward to seeing you there. Pook
