Hi John, Cheers. Just used a Baader white light filter on the LX90. Put a 2x Barlow onto the end of the Canon 400D. One shot. Most of the darkness comes from cloud, which is sometimes the best filter of all. As is usual, getting a good focus was hard. Need lessons! Pook

Nice shots both. Pook, yours could benefit from some adjustment to the levels - specifically bringing the white level down.
Does the 400D have Live View or is just an optical viewfinder? The trouble with optical viewfinders is that they are adjusted to be correct with ordinary camera lenses up to 400 or 500mm, but the adjustment often isn't accurate enough to give spot on focus when you put a 2000mm telescope on the front of the camera. The best way is to take a few exposures moving the focus a tiny bit each time while zooming in to the images on the camera screen - obviously if they're getting worse start adjusting the other way!
And as I've found to my cost, even when you get it bang on thermal effects will soon require you to readjust!
Cheers,
Paul.

Hi Paul, Thanks for the comments. The Canon 400D does not have live view, and I've taken some with moving the focus slightly. This shot of the sun was the best of a bunch. Next clear night I'll be checking the collimation on the scope. Pook
