Had some clear sky last night so despite the interferring moon I took 17 x 5 minute full res exposures with the 80mm working at F6 to see how the CCD performs. No darks or flats, SDmask stack in Maxim & processed in PS.

Kieran, the detail you've brought out in the dust lanes there is excellent, and is that the fine wire technique giving the diffraction spikes on the brighter stars?
Clear skies,
Paul.

Should be more on the way depending on weather, what NEO's are in the sky and the MPC Confirmation Page. Frac spikes are fishing line.

Hi Phoenix,
Thats a cracking first light image with SXVH9. Have you got the filter wheel for it yet, so you can add some RGB data to it?
I think there is a plug-in program that will allow you to create diff' spikes and adjust size and rotate to suit the image, can't rem' the name.
I have the SXVH9 also, but hasn't seen first light yet!!
P.S Where is your H16?
David.

The H16 is permanently fixed to the 10" SCT for asteroid work.
Have all the gear for colour imaging but with the moon out colour would have been washed out and have distinct gradients.
I have the plug in for artificial spike but its not as good as the real thing with the RGB data which gives a rainbow effect.

Do you use the f3.3 or F6.3 reducer on the Meade to give a reasonable fov? Have you seen the Hyperstar system for the Meade which would get you to f2.2! (I think), great for the H16 or H9 as they are low profile on top of the corrector plate. Its rather £££ though. The H9 esp' has great Q/E, at f2 you could get really low mag' in a few sec's exp'.
Here is another astronomical question: Whats the breaking strain of your fishing line?
P.S. Hope you post some more pics, inspirational stuff!!
David.

David, I've looked at the Hyperstar's and it seems like an expensive way to wreck a scope if you are not ultra ultra carefull at every moment. I've already managed to rip the focuser complete with ccd off my TMB when they collided with the wedge during polar align. Having a 1.2 lb hyperstar complete with ccd attached to the corrector plate just scares the hell out of me even if it got me down to F1.8.
It was 12lb line but looking to upgrade to 3lb line. The thinner the better ;-)

Hi Phoenix, Should have said this earlier, but welcome to our forum. It's a pleasure to have you on board and it's good to see that you've already made a big impression with your images. Hope to see you along at our first meeting on 23 Sept. Best regards Pook
