Hi Folks, The weather is looking reasonable for some observing tonight, so Delamont is "ON" for the 17-1-15. According to the BBC weather, there should be a few clear spells and some cloud, but no rain/snow is forecast, with temperatures about +1. Please take care on any untreated roads in the area! Usual rules apply, wrap up well (especially feet!!) and bring something to eat/drink etc. If you are new to our observing sessions at Delamont, please try to arrive no later than 8pm as other observers will be trying to get their eyes dark adapted and not spoiled by car headlights etc Also, please ask any of our regular members and experts on observing, they will be more than willing to help you find your way around the sky and enjoy the views through the telescopes etc. Unfortunately, I can't make it tonight, so I hope the weather holds up and you all have a great evening of photon catching Primary targets will be Comet Lovejoy, Jupiter, and the winter nebula There will be Delamont observing next weekend also, weather permitting. I'd also appreciate some feedback, so let me know how you all got on etc Clear skies

Great night tonight. Weather really held up. Bit windy but otherwise a good night. Got some decent views of Lovejoy though we did end up in the wrong car park but a change is always fun. Looking forward to the lecture on Wednesday and seeing you all again next weekend if David posts an event.

Turned out to be a pretty good night after all. First the skies were clear, then they clouded over (completely!), but then they cleared again (phew!). Was good to see a few new faces, even the pesky kids in their cars were good this time! lol. Managed to grab a pic of Jupiter too: irishastro.proboards.com/thread/1154/jupiter-delamont-17-jan-2015
