IAA Observing at Delamont 18/10/14 ***ON TONIGHT***

Hi Folks,

The weather is looking reasonable for some observing tonight, so Delamont is "ON" for the 18/10/14. It should be mostly clear for most of the early evening with breezy southerly winds, so it shouldn't be too cold. More cloud is expected by the early hours with rain expected by tomorrow morning, so we might as well take advantage of the break in clouds etc.

Usual rules apply, wrap up well and bring something to eat/drink etc. If you are new to our observing sessions at Delamont, please ask any of our experts on observing they will be more than willing to help you find your way around the sky and enjoy the views through the telescopes etc.

Unfortunately, I can't make it tonight, so I hope the weather holds up and you all have a great night

Is this open to non members? I have recently purchased my 1st telescope and would be interested in coming along

It is open to everyone Brian, no membership needed. If you bring your telescope with you there will be a few who can help show you how to get it setup properly and give advice on how to get the most from it, I can't make it tonight myself but thats how I got started also by just turning up one evening at Delamont.

Glad you enjoyed the observing at Delamont! As Paddy says, its open to anyone who has an interest in visual astronomy and especially to those who have just bought or are about to buy a new telescope. There is plenty of help and advice available to members/non members etc, but we will be encouraging any non members to join to take full advantage of membership

We will be planning another observing session next weekend, 24th-25th Oct' weather permitting, so keep an eye on this forum next Thursday for an update on the weather.
