ADVANCE NOTICE The IAA's next scheduled observing session at Delamont Country Park is planned for the 21st-22nd of March, which is our first choice for observing this month. The mighty Jupiter will be high in the sky plus all the winter nebulae/star clusters. If it stays clear later on, we'll have a look for some springtime galaxies in the east. Later on, Mars will be rising also, so there are plenty of targets for our scopes Usual rules apply, wrap up well and bring something to eat/drink etc. Please take care on any icy or untreated roads in the area. If you enjoyed the Stargazing Live events in January at QUB and Cultra, you'll find observing at Delamont much more relaxing with a more varied selection of things to look at. If you are considering buying a telescope, please come along to any of our observing sessions so you can view through a wide variety of scopes to help you decide. Plenty of good sound advice available. All members/non members/general public welcome. Please note: If you are planning to bring a group of people to any Delamont observing sessions, please let me know so we can plan etc. Check this IAA forum thread again at 6pm 21st, a weather front will be passing through during the day but should be clearing the east coast be early evening, fingers and toes crossed! Clear skies David (Obs' Co-ord')

Hi Folks, With heavy rain showers forecast for Saturday evening and only brief clear spells, unfortunately tonights observing at Delamont is cancelled Less than 50/50 its not worthwhile. As I write this its clear and sunny, but the weather forecast suggests otherwise Lets hope we get better skies in April...... to make up for a lack of observing this year so far, I hope to do 2 observing sessions on both our April weekends (if its clear of course) For next season, I'm planning to use at least 2 or 3 other sites for our observing sessions, possibly Big Collin in the north, somewhere in North Down and somewhere in the west. So if anyone has any ideas, please let me know and I'll scout them out over the summer. I'm almost ashamed to say.......Clears skies! David

Aww mann, It seems like such a long time since we were at Delamont. The rain has been on and off here all day, its sunny at the min but currently with dark clouds coming this way over Carlingford lough and heading towards Ardglass/Downpatrick direction. Poor wee scope aint seen much starlight in the past month, any night that its clear is seems to be blowing a gale Fingers crossed again for April, Paddy

Guess that's the joys of picking a weather sensitive hobby in N. Ireland
