Hi Folks,
Due to popular demand, I am putting on a special IAA Christmas observing session on 13/14th of December at Delamont Country park. If you are considering coming along please check this thread on Thursday night, by which time I should be able to give a go/no go based weather forecasts. I'll also put a posting on our Facebook page. Lets hope the weather plays ball (not looking to hopeful at present)

ADVANCE NOTICE.
Hi all,
Just checking the forecast for this weekend, Friday night looks like it might be reasonable, as does Saturday night. Unfortunately neither Philip or me can make it on Friday night, but will be ok for Saturday. There are showers forecast and windy conditions. Please check this forum again on Saturday for a go/no go.
See you then..........
David.

Hi folks, Believe it or not, the weather is looking reasonable tonight with winds easing so there will be a Christmas IAA observing session, 14-12-13, at Delamont Country Park, starting around 7.30pm. The Moon is waxing gibbous so no deepsky tonight, so we'll have a look for Crater Laplace near the Chinese lander site on the Moon and Jupiter of course. Should catch a few Geminids too. Just drive in through the main gates and go to the main car park. Usual conditions apply, wrap up warmly, and bring something to eat/drink etc (and Mince pies ) I'd especially like to take this opportunity to welcome any new members and non members, indeed anyone interested in astronomy and telescopes etc, to come along with any telescopes/binoculars for some advice and a bit of craic! See you there David B Stewart (observing coordinator)

Hi all, Thanks to Sharon, Ivan, Paddy and Keith for a very brief observing session at Delamont last night, Unfortunately the weather wasn't great and then got worse, but Sharon's home made mince pies were lovely (Thanks Sharon) Mostly light cloud at the start with a few breaks, which allowed observing of the Crater Laplace in Sinus Iridium, close the Chinese lander site, then we observed Jupiter and its 4 moons rising in the east with Io just off the eastern limb. A couple of Geminids were also spotted through breaks in the cloud before a band of rain swept in. Merry Christmas and Clear skies for the New Year! David
