Hi all, IAA member George Napier has very kindly donated his brand new Skywatcher 5" newtonian on an EQ-1 equatorial mount to the IAA . It has 2 eyepieces and a barlow also a red dot finder. The mount has slow motion controls to both axis. Everything has been tested and collimated and is in perfect condition. This scope is now in my possession so I'd like to offer the scope to any paid up member of the IAA and may be borrowed for an 8 to 12 week period. For anyone looking to buy their first telescope, this is a great opportunity to try visual astronomy through a telescope in your garden without having to buy one. I am happy to provide any advice on setup and use of the telescope to get the most out of it etc, all I would ask for is a very small donation to the IAA equipment fund. Its available for collection from my home in Belfast or from our meetings at QUB or at our observing sessions at Delamont. You can send me a PM here or email me at david.stewart22@ntlworld.com or call my mobile on 07808736963 David. Attachments:

David, Is there anyway to send a donation to the equipment fund via paypal or at a meeting? I wouldn't mind chipping in as I get good value all year from the observing sessions (I dont need a loan of tho scope tho)
Paddy

Hi Paddy, there is no link on the website for a donation via paypal, but Jo' will gladly accept donations at any of our usual meetings which will go into the equipment fund. Thanks very much for offering to chip in.............your money will be kept separately and spent directly on equipment for the benefit of IAA members as well as the general public.
Hope we get some clear skies for Delamont in April...its been a while!
P.S. No takers for the 5" Skywatcher yet!
David.

Lets not forget the ballot to win astro items at the IAA lectures. All monies are allocated to the equipment fund, so buying more ballots will give you better chance of winning and also help the fund.....

Cheers David, that would suit well as I rarely get to the lectures (never knew there was a ballot either), just need the weather to improve a bit now, can't remember how long it is since I had a clear sky

Hi Paddy, Thanks for offering a donation, I'm now pleased to say that if you check the front page, you can now donate to the IAA via Paypal!! Hope you can make it to the meeting tomorrow night (3-4-13) Alan Fitzsimmons is not to be missed Hope the weather improves for this weekend at Delamont, I'll take your money then (and run!!) Our equipment ballot has been very successful at the meetings and we are about to purchase a data projector for our outreach events, so the money is being put to good use. If anyone would like to borrow the 5" Skywatcher, I can bring it to the meeting tomorrow night or to Delamont at the weekend (if clear) just let me know in advance David
