Hi all,
The Irish Astronomical Association will host another 'Perseid Party' for the maximum of the most popular of the annual meteor showers on the evening of Sat 11 August at 7.30/8pm, at DCP just S of Killyleagh, Co Down. We will start off with a fry-up, or BBQ depending on your tastes, in the early evening, followed by an observing session in the nice dark skies of the country park late into the night if it stays clear.
Weather conditions are not very favourable, with mostly cloudy conditions, but me may spot a a few fireballs through gaps in the clouds (astronomers are always optimistic!)
Please bring all your own cooking utensils and food/drink, we may have a few extra portable burners to stick your pans on to etc.
Bring a comfortable lounger/seat, warm clothing and a blanket and a pair of binoculars plus a camera and tripod to capture the event.
If nothing else, it should be a good night with plenty of craic ( I've had enough of the Olympics!!
David.
