We are intending to observe the Venus Transit at Garron Point, County Antrim from 0430 onwards on the morning of Weds 6th June. The weather forecasts are ever changing - the latest updates, including a go/no-go decision will be added to this thread.

Sad to say, this is now looking like a washout - the forecast is that the front moving across the province is moving more slowly than expected and will not be gone by sunrise. Therefore the chances of seeing the Transit look to be remote at this point.
However, it is still possible that things will not turn out so badly and Terry Moseley will be attending the site whatever and reporting. I will relay that report here as well as making my own assessment from Larne around 0400. If there is the likelihood of seeing anything I will join Terry at Garron Point.
Good luck to anyone who is considering joining us or observing elsewhere!
Paul.

Hello All, A quick post from a new member.
I will also endeavour to be there. Even if we see something for a few seconds, it will be worthwhile - Good luck everyone!
Stephen.

Well Jude and I went up to Ballycoose to see if we could get above the fog, but no dice - not high enough - another 20,000ft might have done it! So saw good pictures from NASA's webstream from Hawaii.

It's remarkable how little traffic there is in the small hours - I drove from Portballintrae to Garron Point (36 miles) & saw no other moving traffic at all on the journey.
Actually I didn't see much, it was a question of groping through the low cloud on the higher parts of the route. And needless to say nowt but cloud & drizzle to see at the destination. Surprisingly a few other people showed up ....
... If I live to be 164 I'll see you there at the next transit.

Well no luck here either, got up at 4am and it was raining heavy. The rain stopped at 4.45 but the cloud never cleared, even cloudy yet at 10.40am. Thanks David for the link, at least I got to see something Think there is gonna be a few sleepy heads around today
