A few more Venuses as the planet moves in towards transit on June 6th. The planet is growing large but the phase is very thin & imaging in ultra violet has become too difficult for me. Seeing has been much worse than it was during April even when clouds have cooperated. On the 19th I decided to try deliberately overexposing the planet & then winding the contrast way, way up in an effort to catch a trace of brightening of the dark limb (due to refraction in the Venusian atmosphere). Sometimes I think I can make out traces, usually I don't ... there is however a distinct hint of extension of the northern cusp in this image.

Another one from May 23rd. Venus is now starting to approach the Sun quite rapidly and no longer dominates the evening sky. Attachments:
