Hi folks,
There will be an IAA observing session tonight, the first of the new '10/'11 season , at Delamont Country Park, starting around 7.30pm. Unfortunately, I won't have the 16" Lightbridge tonight, but we'll get a look at the summmer favourites before the mighty Jupiter gets up high enough for a good view. Usual conditions apply, please be there before 9pm, wrap up warmly, and bring something to eat/drink etc. If you need some advice on your telescopes and binoculars, bring them along too.
Delamont Country Park is 1 mile south of Killyleagh, on the main Comber /Downpatrick road. Turn left at the brown sign, and follow the drive to the car park.
Temperatures will be around a balmy (by our standards) 9-10 degrees, so make the most of it before winter sets in, and the temperatures drop!
See you all there!
David Stewart (observing coordinator)

Hi Folks,
A big thanks to all who attended our first observing session of the new season. A great nights craic under superb skies, and a comet thrown in for good measure! Big Ivan McAllister knocked off Stephans Quintet for the first time with his 12" dob, Peter Stewart brought along his brand new 12" goto dob (very nice indeed!) so we got our hands dirty on that! Paddy was sporting glow in the dark legs (tripod legs that is!) Jo Magill brought some nice chocci bicci's (just the ticket) Meanwhile, I had to convince a certain someone that he was actually looking at the GRS on Jupiter (did you get your specimen bottle filled?)
Our next event is at Portballintrae, so keep an on the front page for details.
David.

Lol, very good David :-) It was some nights craic, I dont know how Ivan can remember so many details and find a galaxy or nebula with just a push of his hand so easily but it was very educational. Thanks to everyone else who I tormented with questions and thanks Jo' for the snack Hope to get down to QUB for the talk, cya there. Paddy
