Hi Folks, The sky is certainly better than last night though not perfect by any means. There have been numerous clear breaks in the cloud which may give some good views tonight, especially if we can spot a Geminid or two. If you are mainly interested in looking for Geminid meteors then bring a lounger. It'll be easier on your neck! I'll be going to Delamont for 7.30pm, but as I said viewing is not perfect, however if you are coming along, then I'll look forward to seeing you there. Don't forget to bring something warm to drink. Hi Folks, Well didn't it turn out well! Clouds cleared after 8.30pm giving us all a great view of an night sky, bristling with stars. A good many Geminids were observed and the difference in speed and brightness was noticable, compared to the Perseids earlier this year in August. New scopes were on view and beginners had tours of the night sky and instruction on how to photograph deep sky objects. All had good views of Mars which was well up in the sky before the clouds rolled back in again. Big thanks again to all who came along, brought scopes, binos, cameras and hot coffee! So until the next one on 15th Jan 2010 (mark it in your diary now), keep looking up! Pook

Hi, just a quick note to say Thanks for all the advice last night. Catherine, John and myself had a great time and learned a lot. We put some of it into practice tonight and got some more photos of the Orion nebula and found the Pinwheel Galaxy that we had been told about. The photos arent great but its early days yet and still learning the camera controls. We seen a fair lot of Geminids tonight while we were out. Its getting harder to find a dark place this week as many garden trees are getting covered in Christmas lights, but at least we can see where were walking.
So thanks for everything and looking foward to next time
