The IAA observing group next planned observing is this weekend at our usual spot down at Delamont Country Park. The forecast is for some cloud but there may be a few clear spells in the evening, I'll check the forecast sometime tomorrow which will be more accurate, so check this forum thread around 6pm on Friday 9th for an update on weather conditions (fingers crossed
If anyone needs directions to Delamont, let me know, text or ring me on 07808736963
I'd like to take this opportunity to invite any new or non members to join us, if you need any advice on observing or equipment, we'll be glad to help, the Milky Way is spectacular from Delamont! See you there.
Weather's looking a bit bleh. Unfortunately Theresa this is the problem with our hobby as astronomers; the telescopes tend to act like totem poles for cloud. If it clears up a little the humidity is sitting around 95% sadly, tomorrow looks like it has a window for a few hours around 9pm.
Unfortunately the cloud has beaten us again, although it appears quite thin and patchy, it's not clear enough to go ahead tonight so observing at Delamont is cancelled.
I now have the IAA's club scope available again for any one to borrow, as long as you are a paid up member you can borrow it for a couple of months. First come, first served! I can bring it to a meeting or to an observing session at Delamont. Contact me on 07808736963 for details
Paddy, I've been thinking positive thoughts all weekend but it didn't work
Would also be interested for next weekend - can do the Friday, but not the Saturday evening. The ISS evening passes continue into next weekend and there is also a mag -2 iridium flare on Fri night visible from delamount (none on Sat).
