ADVANCE NOTICE The IAA's next scheduled observing session at Delamont Country Park is planned for the 4th-5th April, which is our first choice for observing this month. There will be a crescent moon in the early evening twilight, so will have something to align our finders and optics etc. The mighty Jupiter will be high in the sky plus all the winter nebulae/star clusters. Mars will be rising also, so there are plenty of targets for our scopes. If it stays clear later on, we'll have a look for some springtime galaxies in the east Usual rules apply, wrap up well and bring something to eat/drink etc. Kick off will be around 8.30pm. If you enjoyed the Stargazing Live events in January at QUB and Cultra, you'll find observing at Delamont much more relaxing with a more varied selection of things to look at. If you are considering buying a telescope, please come along to any of our observing sessions so you can view through a wide variety of scopes to help you decide. Plenty of good sound advice available. All members/non members/general public welcome. Please note: If you are planning to bring a group of people to any Delamont observing sessions, please let me know so we can plan etc. Check the IAA forum thread again at 6pm on the 4th for an update irishastro.proboards.com/thread/edit/1085Clear skies David (Obs' Co-ord')

Hi folks, It looks as though the weather conditions will be getting back to normal on the 4th April, we'll get a change of wind direction back to south westerlies away from awful south easterlies and the foggy conditions etc. Of course we all know what normal is for us , but at least it will be brighter on Friday which might extend into some clear spells on Friday night. Saturday night is looking more cloudy at the moment, but I'll do another update tomorrow about 6pm, so fingers and toes crossed......... (I won't be home until about 6pm so the update might be a bit later) If I do see you at the weekend, I'd like your mobile numbers so I can text a go/no go directly to you. David

Hi all,
Here we go again, due to mostly cloudy skies, tonight and tomorrow nights observing at Delamont is cancelled. There might be a few holes in the clouds for a time tonight, but another weather front will be coming in during the small hours to bring rain in the morning. Saturday night is total cloud cover also.
Best to aim for our second and last chance for this season on the 24th-25th April. See you there......
David.

I did indeed, the only comfort was that I came down with a dose of the cold over the weekend and was in no shape to use a telescope on Sunday evening, 2 painkillers, 6 bottles of budweiser and a hot wiskey made sure of that
