ADVANCE NOTICE Unfortunately due to mostly cloudy/rainy weather conditions, the observing session for tonight the 25th October is cancelled. The forecast is for cloud and some rain over the weekend, but keep an eye on the forum for an update tomorrow night, (I may have my Halloween costume on!) Also keep an eye on the front page for upcoming events and our lecture programme Clear skies David.

Hi Folks, As I'm writing this, its lashing rain outside, but the forecast shows the rain to pass through by 5pm with good clear spells this evening with only a couple of showers in the west, so the observing session for 26th October is "ON" tonight Unfortunately I can't make it tonight but Ivan will be there with his super 12" dob for a guided tour of the Autumn highlights Usual rules apply, wrap up well and bring something to eat/drink etc Don't forget you will have an extra hour of observing tonight due to the clocks going back David.

Unfortunately I am entertaining friends from my former home this weekend, otherwise I'd be out, so have to send my apologies this time. Keep an eye out for auroral activity - the flares from Wednesday should be arriving anytime and there's a few hours of clarity moving through!
Enjoy!
Paul.

Thanks Paul, the transaparency should be good tonight with the rain washing air pollutants away. There are trees to the north of the car park but a good auroral show will be easily visible above them.
I hope someone brings a camera!
David

Thanks to Ivan, John, Sharon and Keith for coming to the observing session. Ivan gave our new member Keith an extensive tour of the night sky. So, Keith I hope you enjoyed tonight and that you will come back again. We enjoyed a beautiful clear sky and saw some meteors amd lots of galaxies. Later on we viewed Jupiter and 3 of it`s satellites. I hope more members and friends can attend next weeks observing session if it`s on. Jo.

I had a great night, thanks. Thanks to everyone for letting me look through their equipment. I'm still amazed at how quickly Ivan can point his telescope at anything in the sky!
I really need to invest in my own pair of binoculars and telescope.
