Morning cloud cleared gradually but observation was not possible until lunchtime ... and I had an afternoon appointment so observations were rather rushed - no time to do high resolution Ha imaging with my SF-100. A satisfactory session nevertheless.
Solar activity is moderately high with two major active areas on the disc.
1247 UT. Coronado PST CaK, prime focus, DMK41
1252 UT. Solarscope 60, 0.5x focal reducer, DMK41
AR 11156 is now approaching the south west limb and appears insignificant in Ha and CaK. I was surprised to find a few pores mixed in with the white light faculae:
1314 UT.
AR 11157 is approaching the west limb. There are a few pores & spotlets and a nice patch of faculae:
1312 UT.
1321 UT.
AR 11158, now west of the meridian in the southern hemisphere, remains the major active group. Development seems to have ceased but it still looks fairly angry:
1255 UT.
1311 UT.
1319 UT.
AR 11161 in the north east is developing into a major centre of activity:
1254 UT.
1309 UT.
1320 UT.
Prominences are interesting rather than spectacular, with one exception ...
1302 UT.
1300 UT.
... the exception being the "towering inferno" on the north west limb:
1259 UT.
Ha closeups: Solarscope 60, 2.5x Powermate, DMK21
White light closeups: William Optics FLT 110, Lunt solar wedge, ND 3.0 & W29 (deep red) filters, 4x Imagemate, DMK21
CaK closeups: William Optics FLT 110, Lunt B1200 CaK diagonal, 2.5x Powermate, DMK21
Transparency moderate to good. Seeing moderate. Temp. +09C, wind S force 3, baro 990 mb, rising.
